| Grünerløkken |

Kristiania-G. was Grünerlökken, the very first branch office in Norway. (Hits: 568)

The original cancel at Grünerløkken. Bigger star and higher combs than the 1896-version. Both versions undergo repairs in December 1907 (at which point a spare canceller is issued).
|
Delivered on 1896-10-17. Smaller star than the original. The width of the combs also less than the 1889-issued Swiss.
Both these Swiss cancellers undergo repairs in December 1907.
Still, later, this particular one can be seen to have a weak spot in the inner circle directly under the upper right bridge intersection.

A temporary cancel (or two?) was used for a short period in December 1909 while the two regular cancels underwent an overhaul. The two regular Swiss type cancels were returned from the engraver on 1909-12-7 and 1909-12-17 respectively; the 17th return is recorded as delivered to the post office on the 24th.

On 1912-12-16 Kristiania G was issued a parcel post cancel of the first cradle type developed by Kjeldaas.
These were to be placed on the parcels/wrappers, but have some times been used for cancelling stamps too.
Has anybody still alive spotted this cancel?

A Swiss type date-time cancel appears in 1916; but I cannot tell much about it now.
|
Delivered on 1924-4-16. Langangen has noted that the old cancel was returned on 1924-3-27. What old cancel? The strange date-time from 1916?
