Krag-Hansen (1904, NO)

Gustav A Hansen's and Nils A Krag's invention received patent protection in Norway on 14th January 1904. It was a sturdy, small, and simple piece of geniously engineered parts that would blow away the competition.
Their angle at a mail marking machine, being a continuous roller handling envelopes and cards of all shapes and sizes, propelled them to the throne of cancelling machines in a few years time. (Hits: 904)

TUR Single Circle (1913-1925) (15)
Since I have no clue, yet, about which machines made these marks, I have decided to simply sort them by appearance. For now at least.

Dates are listed in YYYY-MM-DD format for facilitating sorting procedures.

Altogether I have previously noted four different designs; let's see if that adds up.

TUR is the Norwegian solution to identify receiving postmarks as required by UPU and in effect from 1892-07-01. The number identifies the time of day; 1=morning, 2=mid-day, 3=afternoon, 4=evening. Not every round would deliver and pickup in the outer zone of town. TUR use can also be found to the island of Bygdøy and areas in Vestre Aker such as Holmenkollen, Slemdal, and Vinderen along the Frognersæteren tram tracks. Also Nordstrand, along the Nordstrandbanen, may have been TUR-served. This is not by chance, but can be related to postal routes and possibly the fact that at a certain point in time, uniformed postal workers got to ride the public transport system for free.
